Brighton Professional Photographer – 70’S Photoshoot

Vintage hair & clothes fashion Photography at Dead Wax Social

‘BACK TO GAMBLE’

Vanessa and I had this idea to do a 70’s style fashion photoshoot. We couldn’t think of a better place to be than Dead Wax Social in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine, they do beer, vinyl and pizza (the best vegan pizza!) they also have the most amazing wallpaper and it’s a great vintage “feeling” in there. So thank you so much for letting us use this perfect location for our shoot. They came and open up for us because we had to be done photographing at the time they’d open the pub. Early start!

Kevin Dodds and Jonny Bull are our models. We knew Kevin would suit this shoot (he has been our model before, you can view those images here) and then we’re were looking for model number two and found Jonny, which turned out to be great with Kevin.

Vanessa did their hair and Kerri Lown was our stylist for the day. The wardrobe is from Waiste VintageHazydayz Vintage and All About Aud a Brighton vintage boutique with a bohemian gypsy vibe. We used three different outfits and it was just a great photoshoot, I had my studio light with me because it’s dark in there and I wanted to create a bit ‘moody’ images using the lights to create shadows. A tip to create shadows is to have the lights more to the side of the model but try not to lose the

A tip to create shadows is to have the lights more to the side of the model but try not to lose the catch light in both eyes. Preferably you want to see some light in both of the models’ eyes but can be hard with the lights on the side. (Catch light is a light source that causes a highlight in a models eye in a portrait.)

For the editing, I’ve used Adobe Photoshop and below you can see the result of our Back to Gamble photoshoot.
